Number of rural and urban PMJDY recipients in India 2023, by sector
Of a total nearly 497 million Pradhan Mantri Jan-Dhan Yojana recipients as of August 2023, about 331 million recipients came from rural/semi-urban areas in India. Over 390 million recipients were recipients in public sector banks during the measured time period.

It aimed to expand and make affordable access to financial services such as bank accounts, remittances, credit, insurance and pensions.
